The Romance of Questionnaires

It's not big, not at all, if you were watching from a distance...but what from our perspectives? A gaze, and modestly from me, the other would glance. A heart literally stopping, and all your thoughts come in at once. You ask yourself what your next move will be, or if your opponent will even move at all. "What are our three outcomes?" he asked.

"You look away, and your opponent is disappointed. Neither of you instigated any conversation." she said, apathetically.

"You interfere with the natural order of things and confront your opponent. Arriving, you don't know what to say. You have failed. He thinks you're a freak now. Good job." He smirked, and she contemplated...

"You could smile, but would he smile back?"

"My dear, that would be creepy if he did not know you."

"Our meeting was not very special. I hid from you and communication was awkward, but I don't believe I instigated a conversation. That was you."

I suppose it didn't need to be all that meaningful. It took several years for that to happen. Our conversations trailed off into the universe, as if we hardly thought of what to say next. Unlike in the beginning, we were both quite silent, but who was in control? The thrill of being pushed around? Now, I am a masochist, but I would never marry an abusive man...And he wasn't. He was...dominant, but surely he gave me the wheel ever once in a while. Although, I usually lit it on fire.

Ignoring the insult to our meeting he asked, "What do you look for in a husband?"

"I would ought to say you, but what is that? Flattery? It's the truth. I look for you, in fact, there's no doubting it anymore. In other circumstances in which you didn't exist, I would not be searching for a husband."

"But you love marriage, and you want a family. Why would you give that up?" he said, pushing her away with words.

"You fail to recognize, but I only speak about those things with you. Weddings don't have to exist, nor do families, as long as you do. I give up nothing, unless you ask me to give up you." She frowned and sighed. Disappointed in herself for complaining so much to him. She was very happy with the way things were now, and a little scared. She didn't want any of his love to go away. So you have three outcomes this time. Will you instigate something else unto our opponent? Wait patiently? Or give him a little nudge, and see if he realizes?
