She stands in first position, leaning in a close embrace.
When she dances for him free-will is looked at with every disgrace.
And despite her aching bones, she simply knows her place.
So she dances as she's told, with no freedom, but in her face.
---
And the strings suspend from strings, because this serpent has no hands.
But he saddles up a seat and then he asks her for commands.
But the bridle that she seeks could make his feathers start to stand,
But the blinders of his seat were made of leather and demands.
---
And so she danced.
She spoke much higher than others who would fake.
So her phase of sorrow starts to shake, and the stage of wheels starts to vibrate.
And she turns to him with every breath she planned to take.
---
And his lips can spit two words at once: apology and lure.
He spreads a tail of brilliance that glimmers bright azure.
She cloaks herself in opulence so that his feathers feel assured.
But curses him beneath her breath, his presence is obscured.
And, oh, one day, she burn the wings so that her little bird won't fly.
And she'll drop the filthy crucifix that she suspended from the sky.
And as that serpent starts to crawl, she'll pluck out both his eyes.
Put tar to feather, rip string from leather, but the little bitch won't die.
So her heel is made of thunder and her might is made of light,
And if the serpent's so afraid, then why won't the serpent bite?
And if snakes has eyelids he'd shed a tear, but that wouldn't be polite.
So he slinks off to his hole because he hates the light.
---
A gesture she gives out to him, despite her many fears.
She hums a tune, without a body, as to make it loud and clear.
The wheels of the stage slowed themselves as they heard her sorrowful tune.
She held in her hand a heart, and all of her truth.
And this became hr final cue.
---
So curious, he slithers up, and nuzzles to her hands.
A tasty heart she offers me? Oh, you shouldn't have, madame.
The words are wrapped around a pulse, but he doesn't understand.
Meekly slicked, his feathers sleek, he waits for her command.
---
She cringes in the moment, pulling back her arm.
She wonders how to speak to him without the strings in charge.
She extends her hands again, and makes another gesture quite large.
She leans close to him just begging to pet his skin.
But the strings kept themselves together, keeping her fragile joints pinned.
---
And he whine because she cannot move, his snout bowed so low.
He invites pinocchiette to a play, or at least enjoy the show.
But the body stands a statuette; will he really move this slow?
They lock their eyes, stand hypnotized, and his color starts to show.
---
Tears abruptly filled her eyes,
And she watched the colors as she cried.
She'd ask herself what his feeling were, though she'd already tried.
She feared they might turn heads and lose contact in eachother's eyes.
---
He gently slips his razor teeth above her fragile head,
And snips the spider webbed string, and prays she won't fall dead.
All he ever wanted was to paint the planet red,
And he's certain that this puppetress could help him plan ahead.
And so he covers her with nine black tongues to keep the wood rot dry,
And she shudders under ecstasy and takes his feathers for a ride.
He giggles in his blaspheme, but he hurts on the inside,
Because the nothingness he'll always see has spit in his left eye.
---
She holds to him, her body weak, she trusts him with her life.
Despite the things she hadn't seen, she'd lay those thoughts aside.
As she lay, her eyes grew weary, to the sound of the tide.
Beneath them, the water lay, full of the tears she had cried.
---
And he flies on, she falls asleep, he nestles in a cave.
He's tired and his wings are weak from the journey they have made.
And with the sun that mounts the peak, he awakens from his place.
Bridled, mounted, shiny clean, he purrs in her embrace.
